What to Prepare For Your Pet Travel from Australia to France

We’ve listed below the key considerations and preparations required for pet travel from Australia to France:

Microchip: You must ensure your pet is microchipped with an ISO 11784/11785 compliant 15-digit microchip. This should be done before the rabies vaccination.

Rabies Vaccination: Your pet needs to have the rabies vaccination at least 21 days before travel.

EU Health Certificate: Within 10 days of travel, you’ll need to get an EU health certificate, which is issued by a licensed veterinarian (can be issued by the Jetpets vets!) and endorsed by the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).

Export Permit from Australia: You must obtain an export permit from the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Our Jetpets team will be able to assist with this process as part of our services.

What Happens At The Airport?

  • The captain of the aircraft is aware that your loved one is on board their flight
  • The captain will set the temperature to approx. 18 degrees Celsius so that the animals are comfortable
  • The cabin is dimly lit so that your loved one can see what is going on around them
  • What we feel and hear in the cabin of the plane is the same as what animals experience (except in a travel crate they have much more leg room than us!)Behind the Scenes at the Airport
