Proud to Support RSPCA Victoria

RSPCA Victoria has had an enormous influx of cats and kittens throughout kitten season and has over 1,500 cats in care at the moment.

This large number of cats and kittens needing care meant RSPCA Victoria was at capacity, increasing the pressure on staff and resources.

We were contacted by RSPCA Victoria to help with transporting dozens of these kittens to Canberra where there were better opportunities to find them loving forever homes through RSPCA ACT.

RSPCA Victoria’s Head of Operations, Tegan McPherson said, “This is a really valuable opportunity to work with our interstate colleagues and with Jetpets, and the collaboration has had a positive impact on the welfare of these kittens by fast-tracking their journey into new forever homes.”

We took care of the first litter of kittens last week. The kittens had an early morning check in at our Melbourne Transit Lounge, where our Pet Handlers were in awe of them, as they are far too cute. They then travelled on a direct flight from Melbourne to Canberra. This will become a regular occurrence over the next few months as we endeavour to help as many kittens as possible.

We are really proud of our new partnership and the exciting impact we can have on multiple rescue pets’ lives.

The Extraordinary Life of Pikelet paw-signing book tour

Jetpets are excited to announce that we are the major sponsors for the Life of Pikelets National book tour. Pikelet is one of Australia’s most famous living pooches, with over 188 thousand followers on Instagram and 142 thousand on Facebook. Pikelets story is an amazing journey from council pound to superstardom and his followers can’t get enough of his daily antics.

While Pikelet is a talent on his own he is helped along by his mumma and pappa Calley & Brad Stoll who rescued him from death row in 2013 at the age of eight weeks. Pikelet was suffering from deformed legs and a curved spine and was unlikely to be adopted but when Calley saw him she instantly became besotted with the handsome staffy.

Calley herself, is a trained photographer and it’s easy to see why people are drawn to her amazing photographs of Pikelet and his extended rescue family. Her photographs have a way of bringing out her pet’s personalities and the page brings so much joy to Pikelets thousands of adoring fans.

In addition to taking amazing photographs Calley is also a prominent spokesperson for the rescue animal movement and regularly provides advice and assistance to Pikelets fans who are interested in adoption. While not all Pikelet’s fans have the ability to adopt or own pets they are able to contribute to the rescue movement by following Pikelet and supporting the page.

In the past four years, more than 50 foster animals have passed through Pikelet’s Sydney home, all of which have become characters in the Life of Pikelet world. You may remember Calley’s rescue pig Pillow whom Jetpets transported to her forever farm back in July earlier this year.

Jetpets will be working closely with Calley and Pikelet during the month of November to celebrate the tour so stay tuned for further news and content.

Summer and Christmas is the busiest time of the year for the RSPCA

Our friends at the RSPCA have reached out to us this month to spread the word about animals in need this season. As you know, rescue pets are close to our hearts here at Jetpets, with our very own animal ambassador Sahara being a rescue dog who was adopted by our Pet Handler Dave!

From November through to January each year, over 4,000 unwanted dogs, cats, kittens and puppies are surrendered throughout NSW alone, with many more nationwide.

There are currently many beautiful animals looking for their forever homes. Please visit the RSPCA’s Adoptapet website today to find your new best friend.

If you are not able to adopt a pet at this time. Another great way of helping animals in need this Christmas would be to make a donation.

Your support will go a long way to helping many animals this Christmas.
