Domestic Defence Pet Travel Tips

Although many Defence members may be accustomed to moving regularly, there are several important things to know about moving pets interstate. See below for expert tips from our team at Jetpets:

1. Check your pet is fit to fly

The first important aspect is to ensure your furbaby is fit and healthy before they fly.  It you have not been to your local vet for some time, it may be a good idea to have them checked over and ensure their vaccinations are up to date should they need to enter any short or longer term boarding for your Defence pet travel move.

2. Ensure your pet’s comfort

Making sure your pets are comfortable to travel in the car is also helpful.  This will get them used to being transported to and from the airport by Jetpets for their special trip.  Many pets can be slightly anxious when getting in the car if they are only doing this once every few years, in fact they may think they are going to the vet!

3. Keep your pet hydrated

If you are travelling to a state with warmer weather or during the summer period, it is important to make sure you furbaby is well hydrated leading up to their travels.  Monitor their water consumption to make sure they have been drinking well prior to their travels as they (like us) should be fit and healthy prior to flights.  It is also a good idea not to feed them too much before their flight; dry food is advisable the day prior to their flight to avoid any potential tummy upsets!

4. Choose a reliable Defence Pet Travel provider
